Databases fail quietly until they fail loudly. Good DBAs notice the quiet problems first.
ErthDev is looking for a Database Administrator to keep production data systems healthy, performant, and recoverable across client and internal platforms.
You'll partner with engineers on schema design, performance, backups, and operational safety.
What you'll do
- Administer production relational databases.
- Monitor performance, connections, locks, and storage growth.
- Design and verify backup/restore and recovery procedures.
- Support schema changes with safety and rollback awareness.
- Tune queries and indexes with engineering teams.
- Manage access controls and sensitive-data handling.
- Participate in incident response for database issues.
- Document operational runbooks and standards.
- Advise on high availability and replication where needed.
- Help prevent avoidable production database risk.

What we're looking for
- Strong production DBA experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL/SQL Server.
- Solid SQL and performance-troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with backups, restores, and recovery testing.
- Understanding of access control and basic database security.
- Ability to collaborate with application engineers.
- Calm incident response habits.
- Documentation discipline.
- Automation mindset for repetitive operational work.
Experience with replication, failover, cloud managed databases, query profiling, and Infrastructure as Code for DB ops is a plus.
